Seems it never rains in southern California….Seems I’ve often heard that kind of talk before….It never rains in California…
I grew up with the words of this Albert Hammond song and thought it must be really dry in that state! Apparently it is right now as there is a drought! But that is not my experience. It wasn’t until I was in my 30’s that I got to visit this great place. And it was anything but dry. Lush vibrant landscapes and gentle breezes coming off of the ocean are what is in my memory banks. I stayed in San Diego for a week and it was heavenly. The food was fabulous and the great places to walk and bike ride were perfection. I’d like to go back and see some other cities. The last trip was paid for by a foundation that awarded my husband for his first book. I need to get him winning awards again!

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Good one Sharon! You’ll get no argument from me, I LOVE San Diego! Funny I was thinking about the song just the other day! Its easy to forget the second verse ….
“But girl, don’t they warn ya
It pours man it pours.”
We JUST got 5 inches in 3 days! Yeah!
Love your art, love your posts!
Yeah…thanks Douglas! I read the rains aren’t helping the drought though. 😦
Its very scary, in reality, cause the fire season could be bad. Historically my area got 30 inches of rain a year. Last year it was more like 7. Def. a drought occurring. But keep your maps colorful to inspire us all for more beautiful weather this year!
Yeah I heard the nut farming could be affected…I need my nuts! I will keep creating….for sure!

Apparently they had several days of rain finally just in time for the Oscars. Love your map art Sharon – and fun facts to go with it. Like a travelogue. I loved San Diego too.
Thank you Lianne!
🙂
When I was in SEAL training (the second time) in Coronado, a lot of the guys would take a leak outside during the pre-dawn hour (0430hrs) before our morning PT. After the initial weeks of training one of the BUD/s instructors addressed my class:
“Gentlemen let me point out what should have been obvious. I doesn’t rain here! All this pissing outside is making this whole compound smell like piss! Do not piss outside anymore. If I catch anyone pissing outside this whole class is gonna pay!”
We all kinda gave each other that ‘Well Duh!’ look. (And silently prayed for rain to wash our sins away)
Great story! Albeit a smelly one. 😉 Thanks for stopping by Lance!
