We are ALL connected online through Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, etc. But how do you connect to yourself? Sometimes I feel like we are so involved in other people’s lives online that we forget that we have one of our own in the real world. We wake up one morning with aches and pains and wonder where they came from. We look in the mirror and wonder who is this person I see in the reflection? We stop spending time alone. We constantly borrow the thoughts of others until we forget to have any of our own. Today I am reminding myself to get away from the black box for awhile. To get with Nature and my own mind. I am going to “check in” with me to see what I am up to……

Good Morning, I agree with your sentiments. And I am here on my computer loving your work 🙂 Happy Sunday, I hope you have a great day.

Thank you!
Hope your check in with nature and yourself was fulfilling. For me, it is time on the bike … wind in the face, stopping to shoot photos of all that I see. You are correct … we need to stop and connect with ourselves!
I agree LB…exercise outside and photography are great ways to connect with ourselves. I headed over to Lettuce Lake for a stroll on the boardwalk….always have my Canon Powershot in my pocket to take quick snaps…it doesnt take the greatest pictures, but since I like to photopaint they are more than good enough…so it is fun to take the snaps and then come home to my studio and look for any gems. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
wow, love the story and the picture! I have never thought about this–good explanation (not excuse anymore) why we photograph (and why I have to stop at every rock and turn it up-side-down) to impatient hubbys. 🙂
My hubby is a photographer too…so he “gets it”. 🙂
shared this on my Facebook. 🙂
Thank you!
Such a true and timely post, and the serene and lovely image compliments it perfectly! We usually take off on photography trips on many weekends and “unplug,” and I can tell I am way overdue.

Are you CONNECTED?……………………………………….. #art #meditation
I completely agree. I’m going out too…into the world and away from the screen. It’s there that I feel more connected in a real way. hugs
So glad you did!

Doing exactly the kind of “listening” we all need to do from time to time. I feel a piece of me is missing these days too – and if I could, I know a good walk in a creek would get me right back on track. Thanks for sharing this. And it’s such good advice, I’m going to pass it along!!

The kind of “listening” we all need to do from time to time. Great advice from Sharon Cummings…
Yes we do Lianne!
I did just that yesterday Sharon ~ I never turned on my computer, hardly looked at my phone and instead filled my day with family and play. It was delightful to drink in the sunshine & fresh air!
Awesome! We need that!

Heading for a beach walk…I have shifted to find alone time for me daily! Thank you for the reminder! Heart to Heart Robyn
We all need em…..I decided to take most of the weekend off for “me”. 🙂
This is so true! Sometimes I feel like I live in virtual reality… it is cool and weird at the same time.. Let’s not forget about how beautiful planet earth is and how many treasures we have outside our door.. Your right Sharon, This was a great post! Beautiful Photo! ~ Cheers
Indeed Laura! Even our own yards have beauty….If you will just look. 🙂
