Thank you Maria! My hands make it difficult to produce my Labor of Love series anymore, but I am still delighted to be able to share these past works with my fans. 🙂
I truly enjoy your emails, especially your beautiful art! You have such a wonderful gift.
I was hoping you might be able to help me. I’m an artist myself, and I was wondering if there was a quick and painless way to obtain copyright to my works.
After a very long hiatus from creating my art, I started creating again in 2012. By 2013 I had enough to submit to the US copyright website. It took a good 6 months before I heard back from them. I received an official document via the mail with the titles of all my works.
I was just wondering if you knew of a quicker way to obtain copyrights? It seemed like such a major pain to go through that main US copyright website.
Thanks in advance for any input you might be able to share. I truly appreciate your time.
You already have copyright the moment it is fixed in a tangible form. But you cannot sue anyone who infringes on your work unless it is registered with the U.S. Copyright office. I just registered nearly 1300 images under one name, “The Collective Work Of Artist Sharon Cummings 2003 – 2015” because I’ve never registered before and there was no way I was going to do them each individually! It said I might wait as long as 8 months….but it had to be done!
It is a joy filled picture, I think it is all of the bouncing blueness and the touch of yellow just makes me smile.
