NeverAloneFB“Never Alone”

Painting Acrylic on Canvas

Sharon Cummings

2003

My “Never Alone” painting has always been one of my most popular pieces. It’s true that blue is a soothing color and many people like it, but I believe that it is the sentiment that draws people in.  As I sell a lot of this image around the Holidays, it makes me pause and say a prayer of gratitude for the life I now have.  I also ask for comfort to those who will not be having a “happy” Holiday season.

I know what it is like to have Christmas marred by pain and suffering.  When I was 10 years old, my father killed himself just a few short days before the magical event.  I can still see the carefully wrapped gifts under the tree as we gathered after the funeral.  I remember thinking that I didn’t want anything ever again for Christmas.  For many years the Holidays were just a painful reminder of what was missing and what would never be.  It wasn’t until I had my own child that the joy was brought back to the Season.  Her zeal and delight in all things festive is infectious.  It was her energy that helped heal me.

So for those that mourn loss or those that are hanging on to the sick, I wish that you feel that you are never alone…Whether you believe in God, angels or just the healing energy of others…

Life pools around your heart

The buzz of hope

In every vein

Thump

Thump

Thump

A sinking dream

A flailing hand

Swimming

No

Just float.

MakingWavesFBSummer is in full swing and I am headed to the beach for a few days.  It’s already pretty hot, but for us Floridians, it is the perfect time to splash in the surf.  The water is nice and cool and the tourists have all gone home.  Enjoy my latest painting “Making Waves” while I enjoy some of my own. 🙂

People always ask me about my favorite color.  That really is a hard question because I love ALL of the major colors and most of the secondary and beyond. Can I say that color is my favorite color?  Actually, it is green.  I’ve always had an affinity for this beautiful hue. It is so full of life and growing energy.  It makes me feel healthy and alive.  I lean toward the brighter shades up to lime green, but am equally comfortable with the rich earthy olives.  It’s a versatile shade.  I particularly enjoy pairing it with hints of blue as you see in my newest painting “Life Song”.  In this piece I believe the yellow is “green with envy”. 😉

I am not just an artist.  I am many things and one of them is an Art Collector.  I have pieces from all around the world from some amazingly talented people.  Gifts to the planet!  I recently had the great blessing to discover a wonderful creator named Maya Telford out of North Vancouver, BC – Canada.  Her work “speaks to me”…..so much femininity and softness, yet strong and powerful to the soul.  For years I have collected similar works from other artists I have encountered along my journey.  I really do not have anymore shelf or wall space, but some how I manage to “squeeze” a new piece in now and again.  This is my latest collection piece titled “The Perfected Soul” and it really mirrors how I am feeling these days…..what a wonderful adventure I am on and with each day I can feel my soul heading exactly where it belongs.  I always go back to the “mother”, “inner mother” or the “divine mother”.  If you love to be in touch with your spirituality and to connect with others who do too, you will really enjoy checking out her work.  You can see more of Maya Telfords’s work here:
