Everyone who knows me well, is aware of my spirituality but lack of religion. Religion fascinates me and I really enjoy taking photographs of religious symbolism.  I also delight in painting and creating all things spiritual sometimes combining visual imagery from various beliefs. In my studies over the years, I have found that all of the major religions have a dark side and each also has light and joy in their teachings.  I was raised in a Christian home where abuse was the norm including much of it within the Church.  I have seen the seedy side for sure.  But Easter is meant to be a celebration that expresses life and renewal!  It has both both Pagan and Christian roots.  Whatever your leanings, it is a day to look around you and breath in the goodness of this earth.  To be thankful for the life that you are living.  Whether it is brunch with good friends,  a walk on the beach or a family gathering with food and festivities…….It’s Spring!  Happy Easter!

On Labor Day….I labor.  It is a day off for many and a time to sleep in and maybe BBQ. To me there is no better way to celebrate my labors than to create even more!  In the United States, Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of their country.

I am doing my part by contributing.  Right now I am working on a new series called the “Moda Series”.  These are modern pieces with clean lines and simple colors.  I enjoy the simplicity of them and the challenge to create balance with so few elements to work with.

Enjoy them here:

ImageClowns….those happy faces meant to make children and adults laugh and smile cause skin crawling fear in some.  I’ve got no problem with clowns at all.  In fact, I think they are funny.  What gets the hair on the back of my neck up?  Old Churches.  They are just creepy.  Most of them look as if their faces are gaping and just beckoning in those who wish to be ushered straight into the afterlife.  Inside their dank dark passageways lies evil.  I just know it!  With churches that have withstood the elements for a 100 years or more…what sorrows have been hidden behind secret walls?  Who has been abused there?  All the funerals….  Hidden “sins.  I know what you are thinking?  Why do I focus on the dark side instead of the worship, weddings and christenings?  Phobias are never rational are they? 😉
