This piece was discovered while I was creating a colorful abstract painting. I say “discovered” because often when I create, I simply apply the medium and and the work reveals itself. Michelangelo said it best: I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free. I will wash, blow and splatter everything away from the painting until I find it. “Dark Swan” appeared to me and really spoke to my soul. It is dark, but there is lightness there also. I have really been working hard lately. I am not sure why but I have more creative energy than I have ever had. So I will leave you with another Michelangelo quote which best describes what I do each day: If people knew how hard I worked to get my mastery, it wouldn’t seem so wonderful at all.
