Whether you are a Day of the Dead aficionado, a Harley Davidson Motorcycle rider, Grateful Dead fan or just someone who finds all of life interesting, you can see the fascination with skulls. Whenever I see them, I like to picture what the person who used to inhabit that cranium must have looked like. So many possibilities. Death doesn’t have to be taboo. It is natural and like all of life should be celebrated. I love playing with skulls and giving them their own personality. I have my goth side. Living is expensive, but the price of death is cheap here:

It’s Halloween and all of the goblins will be out soon combing the streets for candy. We get so many on our street because I suspect we buy the best treats around the hood. But this year a little devil got me right in the throat last night. Strep will keep my door closed tonight as I may still be contagious. I wont even put a bowl out just in case my hands might contaminate (though I wash and sanitize non-stop)…so boo! Hope everyone has a great Halloween!

I have really been enjoying creating my new series “The Looking Glass”. It is so fun and interesting to see what appears when I fuse my original paintings together. With this piece the entire image formed a dog. I do see a smiling frog in the center of his forehead and two horses flanking his noggin, but I just found a dog. Your dog? It looks like a Universal Dog to me. It could be any breed and any size. I love the semi-abstract nature of this painting. I have found many things in these works, but I really seem to have a knack for finding dogs. I found this one below in Mastiff Rescue of Florida recently:

I find it really helps to have a sense of humor in whatever I am doing. Creating art is no exception. Not every painting or sculpture turns out exactly as you envision it in your mind. Sometimes you get the unexpected goofy piece. I had to laugh when I fused this painting and “Catman” appeared. It made me think of my childhood days and some of the funny cartoons we used to watch. Have a giggle on me today. 🙂
