No Mom?  No kids?  No worries….

In this day of politically correct language, it is hard not to offend someone at any given holiday.  Mother’s day is no exception.  If you say “Happy Mother’s Day” to someone who has lost their Mom or child, they may be hurt.  If you say it to someone who has no children and never wanted them, they might be indignant.  If you say it to someone too young, too old, too whatever, there is a risk.

Due to the complexity and differences of a mother’s social, cultural, and religious definitions and roles, it is difficult to designate a globally acceptable definition for the term.  So I am saying “Happy Mother’s Day” to ALL women regardless of your biological Mother status.  Why?  Because we women are all “Mothers”….each and every one of us.  Whether you nurture yourself, a partner, care for an animal or just support a friend, in my heart I see you as a beautiful “Mother”.  

My biological Mother is still living but absent from my life.  But that does not mean that I cannot celebrate this day fully with my own child.  In my life, I am my own example of what being a good Mom is…I am always grateful to have broken the chain of abuse that has riddled my family. Being a Mother has both humbled and elated me. I am more patient, compassionate and loving for having had a daughter. To me being a Mom = Better Person.

Cyber Monday has always sounded naughty to me.  Like something you just do not talk about in mixed company. 😉  But at least it is something you can do in the privacy of your own home, bathroom and even in your cubicle at work. 🙂 In fact people are cyber mondaying all over the place on smart phones.  Someone sitting next to you on the bus may be cybering.  And your Mom is probably cybering your Christmas gift as you read this!  Ha ha

It’s been suggested in various groups that I might be an alien.  Why?  Other artists see how much work I produce and how much I market myself.  They wonder how I can do so much and be human.  I’ve addressed this in other posts, but it all boils down to focus for me.  Some experts might even call it OCD. 😉  I will say that as I am ageing that my focus has gotten a little blurry sometimes and I do forget to do things on occasion.  I also get tired.  But this time of year I am hyped on the excitement of the season.  I absolutely thrive on painting gifts for people to share with the one’s they love.  The thought of the joy my work will bring is out of this world!  And getting ready for my first show has me smiling at the speed of light.  It’s a full creative moon! There are UFO’s everywhere (unbelievably fun objects).  It means more hours of painting and more hours of promoting, but just maybe the Mother Ship has a spa waiting for me come mid December…..

I’ve been working really hard lately to get ready for this upcoming Holiday Season.  My main focus has been on creating some new work such as my Pure Water and Black Magic pieces and also prints.  I am working with an agency who will be showing my work to some pretty big names like Hayneedle, Kirklands, Cracker Barrel, etc. and I am excited about the prospects!  This time of year has always been filled with excitement and this one is no different.  I have gained so many new collectors and followers since January that I feel like I am on top of the World. 🙂  Stay tuned for the many fun things to come!
