A custom cat portrait commissioned by one of my collectors. She wanted her Siamese and her fish based on one of my previous works. It turned out even better than the original!

“Mystic Moose”
New Mixed Media Art Work
Sharon Cummings
2014
There is so much seriousness in art these days, that I sometimes feel a need to “lighten” it up a bit. I have a very quirky sense of humor and I’d like to think it shows through in my artwork sometimes. Here is Mystic Moose for your contemplation. I hope he makes you smile. 🙂
While I still have pieces from my old portfolio to share, I’ve been busy creating new work as well. I’ve got a few paintings, some patterns and also animals coming soon! I just wish there was more time in the day…

There are times in my very adult world of career, parenting and home ownership when I just have to let loose. A time to get in touch with my inner child and see that she gets adequate play time. Painting commission work and new pieces is quite rewarding, but there is still a “work” element to it. Listing and marketing my art is definitely a full-time job! But there is silliness when I allow it. Letting go! It’s like being a kid again with big smiles and jumbo crayons. Yes, I still finger paint too! Whether you are an artist or not, it is good to go back in time for awhile…..When was the last time you played marbles?

No not “those” kind! But now that I’ve gotten your attention, let’s take a look at this strange looking ocean creature. Crabs are decapods (ten legs) crustaceans (their skeleton is on the outside) and arthropods (they have segmented legs). Interesting FACTS:
If a crab loses a claw, it will grow back.
Males grow one larger claw. It’s purpose is to impress female crabs rather than for attack or defense.
A crab’s teeth are in its stomach.
Crabs can be carnivores, herbivores, or omnivores.
Crabs can also be cannibals and will sometimes feed on weaker crabs of the same species.
There are 6,793 species of crabs divided into 93 families.
King Crabs are not considered true crabs. Neither are Hermit, Porcelain, or Horseshoe Crabs.
We began on a light note, so we might as well end on one too. 🙂
Man walks into a restaurant and says, “Do you server crabs here?”
The hostess replies, “We serve everyone. Have a seat.”

I am always trying to think of new subject matter to Stone Rock….one of my signature art styles. Lately I have been taking a second look at images and paintings that I have had up for a long time that have not received much attention. And it is working. I have sold pieces Stone Rock’d that never sold without it. My latest transformation is here. I have taken “Pinky” below and added my trademarked Stone Rock’d pattern for an interesting and “Pop Art” effect. I had a pet goat as a child named Lulu Bell….she would be proud. 🙂
