A Mother’s Love

This has never been more true than it is for me now.  As my daughter explores the world on her own, living away from the nest, I find my heart lurking in the shadows.  It is amazing how much more a text means!  Or when she “stops by”. 🙂  Here’s to all of the moms whose babies have spread their wings!

I’ve always loved baby feet and now I’ve combined my color fusion heart with adorable infant footprints. So cute! And this piece can be fully customized just for you and your little bundle of joy. I can add name, birthday, size/weight, etc. You can send me a jpg file of your own baby’s feet and I will create a one of a kind keepsake just for you. Perfect for all parents, moms and dads. Great gift idea for the mom to be too! A unique baby shower gift. Also would make a beautiful memorial for those that have lost. Please contact me for more information.

There are times in my very adult world of career, parenting and home ownership when I just have to let loose. A time to get in touch with my inner child and see that she gets adequate play time. Â Painting commission work and new pieces is quite rewarding, but there is still a “work” element to it. Â Listing and marketing my art is definitely a full-time job! Â But there is silliness when I allow it. Â Letting go! Â It’s like being a kid again with big smiles and jumbo crayons. Â Yes, I still finger paint too! Â Whether you are an artist or not, it is good to go back in time for awhile…..When was the last time you played marbles?

“Colorful Sea Turtle”
New Art Mixed Media

2014
I decided to give my 25 year old turtle drawing some real color.  There is nothing wrong with trying to mimic nature in art, but I always find it a little boring.  There is no cure for this color junkie. 😉  While I will use the following:  graciously donated photos, public domain work or vintage images from time to time, I much prefer to work with my own photography and graphics.  This little guy posed a real challenge to recreate him in my new “Color Fusion” series, but I think he can swim away now into the colorful sea!

“Free Spirit”
New Art Mixed Media Painting on Fabric Fused Digitally.

2014
I’ve always been a bit of a free spirit since the time I could walk, but today I am not talking about that personality trait. Â When I was a little girl, I loved riding my bike. Being the younger of two girls, I always got the “hand me downs” from my sister. Â So it was her old beat up economy cycle that I learned to ride on.
My older brother had a beautiful bike. Â It was sleek and colorful and oh so enviable. Â It was way too big for me and every time I tried to sit on it, that painful bar would get me right between the legs! Â His was a “Free Spirit”. Â It was red, white and blue. Â I wanted one so badly. Â Every Christmas it was all I would ask for. Â One season went by and I got a play stove set and the next I got some barbies. Â I just wasn’t into all of that girly stuff, but was thankful for the gifts anyway.
Then the day came! Â It was the Christmas of my 7th year. Â My parents had wrapped a few small gifts for me and placed them under the tree. Â There was no huge wrapped gift, so I assumed that the bike wouldn’t come yet again. Â We all opened our gifts and everyone was happy….well mostly happy. Â I am sure I looked more than a little disappointed. Then my Mom and Dad started laughing and asked me what was wrong. I shrugged. My Dad then left for a few minutes and came wheeling in my new bike….oh boy! Â She was a beauty. Â I jumped on that long bright yellow banana seat and I rarely got off it!
Here is a picture of the bike I loved so much. Â Time for a ride down memory lane!
