“To The Moon And Back”
Commission of Luna The Black Lab

2015
I’ve been working on a lot of custom work so far in 2015! Â Paintings and portraits for special people. Â I was recently asked to create a custom piece featuring this beautiful dog. Â Here is what her guardian has to say:
And yes, of course share Luna’s story! I can give you a few more details b/c she has a pretty sad story with what we think is a happy ending. When she was rescued (after having been abandoned in Ohio and sent to a high kill shelter), she was blind, severely overweight (120 pounds), and had bilateral cranial crucial ligament disease. She was put on an aggressive diet and she is now down to a svelte 75 pounds. After we adopted her in March we got her first CCL repaired, but then we discovered a mast cell tumor that also required surgery – luckily the prognosis was good and we went ahead with the second CCL repair. So the poor girl had 3 surgeries in about 12 weeks. But now 10 months later she is moving better and still the same sweet, gentle dog – lover of all other dogs, kids, cats and the like. She loves walking and sniffing the air and believe it or not, car rides are her favorite!
Thank you so much for capturing her look and spirit!!
