I recently had an opportunity to stay on the 10th floor at the Lido Key Resort in Sarasota, Florida.  The view was spectacular!  Each evening we liked to sit on the balcony and watch the sea and sky with our dinner.  One night it got really dark and the sky became an ominous blue gray.  The sea looked black and spooky.  Out of nowhere this lone bird came into view just as I was snapping a photo.  We went inside, but he had “No Fear”…

There is something so carefree about being on a bike.  I grew up riding around my neighborhood on Siesta Key, Florida.  I love bicycling and do it often.  I recently purchased a new beach cruiser in a nice cream color with a brown leather saddle seat.  It is so comfortable and easy to ride.  The picture here is not my bike.  I was at Lido Beach this past weekend and while walking along the shoreline, I came across this beauty.  No lock. No owner anywhere.  Just sitting there as if it was placed there from a different time….a memory….a ghost asking me “Remember when?”

Walking along Lido Beach with my husband waiting for that last glimmer of light, I see some children playing in the surf.  Two little girls and one boy squealing with joy as the waves splashed at their backs.  Parents were chatting and pointing at the horizon.  This guy was a whir of activity with limbs going every which way and toys thrown about.  He payed no attention to people passing by.  Then for a split second….just a small moment, he stops and looks at the setting sun as if to say……not yet…I am still having fun.   I cannot believe I captured this….

When I have my camera in my hand I am constantly looking for “magic moments”.  Often I get home and download my images only to find that most of them are not worthwhile at all.  But sometimes you get a stunner.  This piece was indeed amazing as my daughter and I watched the sun going down over Lido Beach in Sarasota Florida.  This couple gazed out patiently and expectantly over the horizon for that last glimmer of light going beneath the water.  It was surreal.  I am delighted that I captured this memory…..
