The word Namaste is an ancient Sanskrit greeting meaning, “The Spirit within me salutes the Spirit in you” – a knowing that we are all made from the same One Divine Consciousness.  For me it means “Letting Go”.  Recently I have been struggling with the betrayal of a friend.  Years of trust were lost when they allowed their jealousy and inner bitterness to dominate their thinking.  I have had to overcome a lot of suffering in my lifetime from sexual abuse to the suicide of a parent, so I am no stranger to forgiveness and letting go.  But for some reason this one person and the actions they chose really got to me. In the scheme of things he and our falling out are seemingly insignificant.  But in this morning’s meditation, I have discovered the importance of this life event.  I have been having negative feelings toward him which is not my usual state.  I have wanted him to fail.  I have wanted him to be ashamed of his actions.  These thoughts and feelings do not serve me. So today I have decided that I will start practicing Namaste.  I know this person looks at my blog daily and from now on when I see they have I will be sending them a blessing. A blessing for happiness, health and success in their art career.  I will visualize them doing well and having a beautiful life.  I will affirm that every painting they create will sell and sell well.  I will affirm that they will find within themselves what I have found already.  I will love them in spirit.  Namaste “Craig”…..Namaste……

This piece intrigued me from the moment I fused the acrylic images together.  I saw a sleeping moose and a cow with her eyes closed immediately.  But I struggled for a name and I was stuck.  I posted the image on my Facebook fan page to see what others might see in the work.  The response was phenomenal!  So many got involved and had ideas and saw things I never considered.  Ultimately one of my fans saw a beast at the top and a beauty beneath and once I saw those images, that made the title he chose perfect….”Beauty And The Beast”…..so much to see.

Time travel has been an interest in Science Fiction films and books for many years.  Poets have written about it.  Scientists have dreamed of it.  So far, all we can do is go back in our minds to places we have been or seen before.  If you could go back in time, where would you go?  Sometimes I think it would be cool to go back a few hundred years and see how people acted back then.  But then I remember my Holistic Medicine beliefs…my herbs….my meditation and know I would be burned at the stake somewhere.  Honestly if I could go back, I would not go far.  I’d go back to last Summer and say goodbye to my Dad before he passed away.  I’d go back and spend time with Grandparents, Friends and other loved ones who have passed.  For me time travel wouldn’t be all that exciting to an outsider looking in.  Iced tea and biscuits with Granny would be Nirvana…..Digging up worms with my Dad for fishing would be amazing……Where would you go?

I first got interested in Yoga about 15 years ago when I was suffering from vertigo as a result of postpartum thyroiditis.  It was pretty bad and the medical community had nothing to offer me other than physical therapy to recover my balance. Rather than spend an hour a week in a clinical setting, I chose yoga.  It was very challenging at first because I fell a lot, but a wonderful teacher at The Treehouse Yogo Studio was patient and kind.  She helped me reposition myself when I faltered. After awhile, I got much better at it.  Then it became second nature as the moves flowed fluidly through my body.  The vertigo no longer had control.  I still practice some of the postures I learned every day.  It is better than any medicine.

In this piece titled “Om – Red Meditation” I see a beautiful princess in the most basic yoga meditation pose.  I also see angels and guardians and a bit of Buddha.  I hope you enjoy her too:

Also today as part of my Looking Glass Series, I offer you “Soul Symphony” which is a piece to revive the senses and make you “feel” the vibration of the Universe.  Enjoy!

Webster tell us that enlightenment means the state of having knowledge or understanding : the act of giving someone knowledge or understanding.  For me it means seeing my world for what it really is.  Taking off blinders and realizing where I am nourished and walking away from people and places that do not feed my soul.  it is spiritual satisfaction.  In this abstract art piece titled “Enlightenment” I see a very satisfied soul….an all knowing crow and a beautiful tropical bird.  It makes me feel happy in side.  My Looking Glass series takes original paintings on yopo and fuses them together to form interesting faces, figures and objects.  Look closely and discover new things!

Also a new pattern today titled “Awakening Spirit”….do you see two sides of the brain? Someone pointed that out to me….always finding something NEW in these!

I believe we all have a dark side.  Not evil, but a part of us that lurks in the shadows of humanity. An internal eye that boldly looks at the things that we are told we should turn away from.  It isn’t all lollipops and unicorns is it?  I find superstition especially fascinating.  In some cultures crows are thought to symbolize death or bad luck.  Conversely in other peoples they are are believed to be guardians of truth and keepers of sacred law.  A sign of power.  I see these shiny black beauties every day around my home.  I do not fear them or their message.  Step on a crack and break your Momma’s back…..my Mom’s back is just fine and so are these magnificent mythical creatures.
