When I created this piece for my new “Transforming Energy” series there was something about it’s glow that made me feel eternal and full of light. So I named it “Eternal Light”. This morning as I set out to write my blog, I did a little Googling and discovered that there is such a thing. A peak of eternal light (PEL) is a point on a body within the Solar System which is always in sunlight. Such a peak must have high altitude and be on a body with very small axial tilt. The existence of such peaks was first postulated by Beer and Mädler in 1837. The pair said of the lunar polar mountains, “…many of these peaks have (with the exception of eclipses caused by the Earth) eternal sunshine. (taken from Wikipedia.)
So there are places in our solar system that have sunshine constantly. Eternal Light. How cool is that!

It’s been suggested in various groups that I might be an alien. Why? Other artists see how much work I produce and how much I market myself. They wonder how I can do so much and be human. I’ve addressed this in other posts, but it all boils down to focus for me. Some experts might even call it OCD. 😉 I will say that as I am ageing that my focus has gotten a little blurry sometimes and I do forget to do things on occasion. I also get tired. But this time of year I am hyped on the excitement of the season. I absolutely thrive on painting gifts for people to share with the one’s they love. The thought of the joy my work will bring is out of this world! And getting ready for my first show has me smiling at the speed of light. It’s a full creative moon! There are UFO’s everywhere (unbelievably fun objects). It means more hours of painting and more hours of promoting, but just maybe the Mother Ship has a spa waiting for me come mid December…..

I am playing around in “space” again. I love the abstract nature of our Universe and I am always amazed and inspired by the imagery sent back to us from NASA. This piece depicts our Statue of Liberty with an active chaotic nebula as a foreground. She stands through it all….

Yes, I am mooning everyone again. No, not that kind of moon. 🙂 But I do seem to have a fascination with the sky, the stars and that glowing orb that every human on the planet gets to gaze upon. Many cultures around the world have interesting myths about the Moon. Some believe there are many moons while others think it brings out werewolves. It has been reported to be made of water and even cheese. It can cause lunacy and pregnant women are more likely to give birth when the moon is full. Here is a moon FACT: The moon is not round (or spherical). Instead, it’s shaped like an egg. In my art I like to experiment with different colors and textures and my moon piece is no different. If you want to see the rear end kind of moon, I have those too in my paintings. Today, however, you get to enjoy this red beauty….

I believe we all have a dark side. Not evil, but a part of us that lurks in the shadows of humanity. An internal eye that boldly looks at the things that we are told we should turn away from. It isn’t all lollipops and unicorns is it? I find superstition especially fascinating. In some cultures crows are thought to symbolize death or bad luck. Conversely in other peoples they are are believed to be guardians of truth and keepers of sacred law. A sign of power. I see these shiny black beauties every day around my home. I do not fear them or their message. Step on a crack and break your Momma’s back…..my Mom’s back is just fine and so are these magnificent mythical creatures.
