A boxer dog with one blue eye.  Can I customize my portrait to accommodate?  Yes I can!  Someone contacted me last night to request this small change to my original boxer image.

I am not trying to get my artwork into The Louvre.  The purpose of my custom pet portraits is to make people happy.  I want to bring joy and a smile to animal lover’s faces!  Don’t be afraid….Just ask me!

Maybe this post isn’t as tantalizing as “Girls Gone Wild” but us artists do have a tendency to let go sometimes and just create without boundaries.  I love painting fish and birds with a tropical flair, but I usually know in advance that I will be painting them.  This piece titled “A Rare Bird” is one of those pieces that seemed to paint itself.  I just started slinging paint and lo and behold a bird appeared.  I love these moments in creativity.  I’ve learned to just go with it….It’s a wild ride!

I’ve never been able to identify with people who say “I don’t like animals.”  I know they have their reasons, but I cannot imagine my world without them.  I grew up for part of my childhood on a farm and I befriended all sorts of critters. Goats and pigs were a favorite.  But ultimately my most beloved are dogs. Aside from their loyal and loving companionship, they are just gosh darn cute! I’ve always especially loved their paws.  There is something about them that gives me warm fuzzies.  Recently while making homemade dog treats, I saw paws in the sweet potatoes I was cutting.  Here is my dog paw.  A canine you can eat!
