“Storm Flight” was one of the first paintings that I sold as a professional.  That was over 10 years ago.  I am delighted that I was able to revive it by digitally remastering the painting and then Stone Rock’ng it.  Stone Rock’d Art is one of my copyright protected signature patterns.  Yesterday I saw that someone found my blog by searching “Stone Rock’d Art How To Sharon Cummings”.  Try it and I will pursue legally anyone who steals my copyright protected patterns.  The patterns you see in this work are not computer generated.  They were hand drawn and then hand sewn digitally to form their unique appearance.  They are mine, but everyone can enjoy them here:

I recently had an opportunity to stay on the 10th floor at the Lido Key Resort in Sarasota, Florida.  The view was spectacular!  Each evening we liked to sit on the balcony and watch the sea and sky with our dinner.  One night it got really dark and the sky became an ominous blue gray.  The sea looked black and spooky.  Out of nowhere this lone bird came into view just as I was snapping a photo.  We went inside, but he had “No Fear”…

It’s that time a year again in Florida….hurricane season!  We start logging into NOAA daily to see what is forming off of the coast of Africa.  We listen to the news a little more closely and when the warning is issued we stock up on canned goods, water and batteries.  I’ve lived in this beautiful state my entire life and I have survived many nasty storms including major hurricanes. These things are quite humbling….you realize just how powerful Mother Nature really is.  But I would not live anywhere else…..I just keep an eye on the sky….

It’s been a rough few weeks in our home, so yesterday we headed for Siesta Key Beach for some fun in the sun.  The day was gorgeous with big fluffy white clouds in a crystal blue backdrop.  It was hot, but the nice breeze coming in off of the ocean made it just lovely.  I was taken by all of the colorful umbrellas dotting the shoreline.  Children played happily in the sand.  The smell of coconut suntan lotion filled the air.  This was paradise!  Within 10 minutes of our arrival, it suddenly got dark.  The wind picked up and out of nowhere the heavens opened up!  The lifeguards were blowing horns, the rain was stinging our eyes and the wind was blowing miscellaneous bits of Summer everywhere.  The sea of humanity running for their lives was unbelievable.  There was no way to take a photo at that point as it was sheer chaos.  And the rain was heavy.  Lightening crackled everywhere.  This was seriously dangerous and we ran too!   Below is a quick snap I took right before the deluge.  A 5 minute wait in the car and it was a return to the picture you see above…..ahhhh Florida in the Summertime!
