New Romantic Art – Mixed Media

The season of love is quickly approaching and I must admit that it is one of my favorite times of year! Christmas is just hectic and go go go… But Valentine’s is a season of romance and thoughtfulness. And I get to share in that with so many people. I am honored with the creation of hearts, flowers and even abstract colors of passion. I am asked to write love notes on the back of canvas, Neruda poems, etc. I can feel the energy of the pulse of love in every piece!

You had me until the mention of another Hallmark Day! lol
I used to feel the same way until I started earning my living as an artist. I would be a hypocrite to scoff at all of the Hallmark days: Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Easter, Birthdays, Graduations, Anniversaries, etc. Because without them, I would not be able to live my passion. People like to mark days and it gives me great pleasure to offer something that is timeless and not a “status” gift. My art is given to make it “personal” and often never seen by the “girls at the office”. I like that a lot.
Aww that’s a very good point! It’s true that when I pick out cards, I pick them with care. I used that term loosely as to the commercialization of holidays and my apologies if I touched a nerve.
No nerve touched…Like I said, I used to feel the same way. But seeing other perspectives can change your feelings. For instance, I used to think a lot of what my Mom thought and did was crap. But after having/raising my own child, I understood why she felt the way she did. It’s all good. Commercialization is the World we live in. I’d love it if I could just create and paint and people brought me food, built me a house and drove me around where I wanted to go. But alas, I need to earn money to have those things. 🙂
Oh good. i DO see your point. I don’t rely on my photography for any income. Thank GOD because I’d be in a poorhouse! lol
My art is my only source of income, so yeah, I have that perspective. I’d be poor if I had to depend on just my photography too and it’s not because it’s not good. It’s because these days there is so much amazing photography out there….market is super saturated. But I still keep snapping because I just love it! And am glad that you keep snapping and posting too. Love to see your works!
I completely agree about the art aspect! I also am not the best of photographers. I rely on post processing A LOT. Although I have to say I’m not going to have many excuses left with the equipment I have now lol.
