There are times in my very adult world of career, parenting and home ownership when I just have to let loose. A time to get in touch with my inner child and see that she gets adequate play time. Painting commission work and new pieces is quite rewarding, but there is still a “work” element to it. Listing and marketing my art is definitely a full-time job! But there is silliness when I allow it. Letting go! It’s like being a kid again with big smiles and jumbo crayons. Yes, I still finger paint too! Whether you are an artist or not, it is good to go back in time for awhile…..When was the last time you played marbles?

I love this. I am 68 and like you continue to live in a very adult world….however, I insist on play time every day:) Janet
Thanks and good for you Janet!
Reblogged this on Click And Color.
Agreed…life is so much better when you make time for a bit of fun and silliness, and it’s wonderful that you can express that in your art, Sharon!
Indeed it is! Hope you have some fun today Priya!
Likewise, Sharon!
Nice. Have you read Robert Greene’s book Mastery where he talks about the creative process and having the childlike quality, but one that includes the deep knowledge gained from thousands of hours of intense and rigorous practice and apprenticeship? Great book and hope you can review it if you haven’t already.
Thanks Rudy! I will check it out. 🙂
And you can listen to him discuss this while you cook too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4v_34RRCeE.
Awesome! “Listening” is right up my alley! Thanks so much Rudy. 🙂
